Him

I could feel it–
him
as he mounted my naked body
I laid there asleep
unable to move
paralyzed by fear–
irrational fear
his weight pressed down on me
pinning me to my bed
I could feel his breath on my face
I was terrified
it is a dream
open your eyes
wake up
there is no one there
but I felt him
I felt the air change
I sensed his presence as he reached for me
touched my arm
my body
as he took what he wanted from me in my room
in my own bed
leaving me petrified–
devastatingly frightened
trying to wake up
to open my eyes
and see what I couldn’t convince my dream self of
I was alone
no man, no beast
no rape.
