shattered pieces
once showcased as confidence
beauty
determination
dissolution of hope–
fluttering behind her eyelids
the cruelness of irony
scratching
clawing
biting at her skin
digging through
everything she has-
to protect herself
nightmares realized
unknowingly manifested
in her thoughts
black ice on the bridge
spinning
bracing for impact…
crash
black ice in her eyes.
